The movement known as Suprematism was founded by Kazimir Malevich and the movement that came to be known as Constructivism was founded by Vladimir Tatlin.

The Russian avant-garde artists created public art to explain and support the Bolshevik cause. Called "agit-prop," the art took the form of posters, banners, and decorations for trains, streets, and town squares. The artists felt agit-prop was "like a newspaper for people who couldn't read."

"The Monument to the Third International" was Vladmir Tatlin's proposed skyscraper -- planned to be a steel tower taller than the Eiffel Tower with glass rooms inside it that rotated. It was meant to tell the world that Russia had entered the "new age," but it was never built and Tatlin's wooden model burned in a fire.
