How does a company that makes machines that make wafers that make computer chips, "party like it's 1999"? To celebrate the merger of company two divisions, Applied Materials hosted an early New Year's party for 1200 employeees at the San Jose Convention Center. A highlight of the party was the screening of a 24-projector wide-screen multi-image slide show produced by The Studio of David Inocencio/Minette Siegel. The show celebrated the new division's employees and their contribution to the success of Applied Materials' products. After dinner, there was another multi-image show featuring employees with New Year's hats and props helping to "countdown" to the Millennium. Confetti canons, a baloon drop, and Bill Hopkins Rock'n Orchestra kept the party going strong. Staging was provided by Riverview (San Jose), with assistance from Brand Presentation Services (Brisbane).
